iHeartRadio Music Awards merupakan sebuah acara penghargaan musik tahunan yang digelar oleh platform iHeartMedia yaitu iHeartRadio dan NBC. iHeartRadio Music Awards diselenggarakan pertama kali pada tahun 2014, tepatnya tanggal 1 Mei 2014. Penentuan nominasi dibuat berdasarkan data iHeartRadioChart yang dikumpulkan selama 12 bulan terakhir. Format yang dipakai untuk menentukan siapa yang menjadi pemenang adalah melalui kombinasi hasil voting serta chart radio. Jadi penggemar atau para fans bisa ikutan membantu artis favoritnya agar menang dengan cara vote langsung. Para fans bisa memberikan suaranya buat artis favoritnya lewat situs iHeartRadio.

Berbeda dengan penyelenggaraan iHeartRadio Music Awards tahun-tahun sebelumnya, untuk upacara yang memasuki tahun ketiga ini, iHeartRadio selaku penyelenggara membagikan lebih banyak trofi serta menambah kategori baru. Sehingga total piala yang disiapkan pihak penyelenggara berjumlah 31 piala, naik dari tahun sebelumnya yang hanya berjumlah 10 nominasi. 31 penghargaan tersebut terdiri dari 21 kategori penghargaan baru dan 4 nominasi didedikasikan untuk musisi Latin. Diantara perubahan tersebut adalah kategori utama Artist of the Years yang digondol Rihanna pada tahun 2014 dan Taylor Swift di tahun 2015, untuk tahun ini dibagi menjadi 2 yaitu Female Artist of the Year dan Male Artist of the Year. Selain 2 nominasi tadi, nominasi baru yang diperebutkan adalah Best Duo/Group of the Year, Album of the Year, Best Tour, Alternative Rock Artist of the Year, Rock Artist of the Year, Rock Song of the Year, Country Artist of the Year, Dance Artist of the Year, Hip Hop Song of the Year, Hip Hop Artist of the Year, R&B Song of the Year, R&B Artist of the Year, Latin Song of the Year, Latin Artist of the Year, Regional Mexican Song of the Year, Regional Mexican Artist of the Year, Best Cover Song, Best Song from a Movie, Most Meme-able Moment.

The 3rd iHeartRadio Music Awards 2016 yang baru saja berlangsung pada hari Minggu (3 April 2016) di The Forum, Inglewood, California, Amerika Serikat. Acara yang disiarkan secara langsung oleh stasiun radio iHeartMedia serta iHeartRadio platform musik digital tersebut dipandu oleh penyanyi Jason Derulo. Taylor Swift yang memimpin dengan 8 nominasi berjaya di kategori Album of the Year, Female Artist of the Year, Best Tour, Most Thumbed Up Artist of the Year dan Best Meme-able Moment. Sedangkan The Weeknd yang mengumpulkan nominasi terbanyak kedua, yaitu 7 nominasi cuma membawa pulang 1 pulang piala di kategori R&B Song of the Year untuk lagu Earned It (OST. 50 Shades of Grey). Adele berhasil mengungguli Taylor Swift, The Weeknd, WALK THE MOON dan Mark Ronson featuring Bruno Mars di kategori Song of the Year melalui lagu 'Hello". Justin Bieber menjadi pemenang terbanyak kedua dengan menyabet 3 piala. Malam itu dia berhasil mengantongi Male Artist of the Year, Dance Song of the Year dan Best Fan Army.
