59th Annual Grammy Awards |
Penghargaan paling bergengsi dalam dunia musik Amerika
Serikat, Grammy Awards 2017, selesai dibagikan dalam sebuah acara megah di
Gedung Staples Center, Los Angeles, California, Amerika Serikat. Dengan host
aktor, komedian dan pembawa acara televisi asal Inggris, James Corden, yang menggantikan rapper LL Cool J yang telah menjadi host Grammy Awards sejak tahun 2012, acara penghargaan The 59th Annual Grammy Awards ini menampilkan serangkaian penampilan panggung spektakuler musisi papan atas
dunia pada hari Minggu (12/2) malam waktu Amerika Serikat atau Senin (13/2) pagi waktu Indonesia.
Beyoncé yang malam itu mengumpulkan 9 nominasi harus
puas mebawa pulang 2 piala untuk kategori Best Urban Contemporary Album dan Best Music Video. Sukses besar
diraih oleh Adele, penyanyi asal Inggris itu menyapu bersih semua piala Grammy
dari setiap kategori yang dinominasikan. Keberuntungan tampaknya tidak berpihak
pada Justin Bieber tahun ini. Masuk 4 nominasi, namun penyanyi “Sorry” tersebut
harus pulang dengan tangan kosong tanpa membawa pulang piala berbentuk
gramofon. Pianis jazz muda kebanggaan Indonesia sekaligus nominator termuda
pada Grammy Awards tahun ini, Joey Alexander yang malam itu masuk nominasi Best
Improvised Jazz Solo dengan lagunya "Countdown" lagi-lagi harus
pulang dengan tangan hampa. Dikategori tersebut Joey Alexander dikalahkan oleh
John Scofield. Ini adalah nominasi ketiga yang diterima Joey Alexander, setelah
tahun sebelumnya dia juga masuk nominasi dikategori Best Improvised Jazz Solo
dan Best Jazz Instrumental Album.
