Berita terbaru dari dunia hiburan hari ini berasal dari dunia perfilman yaitu MTV Movie & TV Awards 2017 yang baru saja mengumumkan pemenangnya. Ajang penghargaan yang telah memasuki penyelenggaraan yang ke- 26 tersebut digelar di Shrine Auditorium, Los Angeles, California, Amerika Serikat pada hari Minggu (7/5/2017) waktu setempat atau Senin (8/5/2017) pagi WIB dengan pembawa acara Adam DeVine. Setelah 25 tahun, MTV Movie Awards kini berubah menjadi MTV Movie & TV Awards. Sesuai dengan perubahan namanya, pihak penyelenggara kini akan memberikan apresiasi bagi para insan pertelevisian. Menyusul perubahan acara, format penghargaan pun diubah. MTV Movie & TV Awards 2017 akan memberikan penghargaan berdasarkan kategori TV dan Film, bukan gender laki-laki dan perempuan seperti ajang penghargaan umumnya. 

Malam itu pihak MTV selaku penyelenggara mengumumkan film Fast & Furious menerima penghargaan Generation Award di MTV Movie & TV Awards 2017. Ini untuk pertama kalinya penghargaan tersebut diberikan bukan untuk individu. Seperti kita tahu selama lebih dari 25 tahun, Generation Award hanya diberikan kepada aktor dan aktris atas dedikasinya di dunia perfilman. Mereka yang telah menerima penghargaan tersebut, antara lain Will Smith, Reese Witherspoon, Ben Stiller, Robert Downey Jr., Mark Wahlberg, Johnny Depp, Sandra Bullock, Jamie Foxx, Adam Sandler, Mike Myers, Tom Cruise dan Jim Carrey.

Get Out  yang memimpin dengan tujuh nominasi meliputi Movie of the Year, Best Villain, Best Fight Against System, Best Actor in a Movie, Next Generation, Best Comedic Performance dan Best Duo hanya berhasil membawa pulang dua piala di kategori Next Generation dan Best Comedic Performance. Kategori Best Actor in a Movie dimenangkan oleh Emma Watson. Emma Watson sukses merebut penghargaan dari hasil akting apiknya sebagai Belle dalam film Beauty and the Beast yang menceritakan tentang cinta seorang gadis cantik bernama Belle dapat mengubah Beast menjadi manusia. Sementara kategori Best Duo dimenangkan oleh Hugh Jackman dan Dafne Keen. Keduanya menang setelah berperan menjadi pasangan ayah dan anak di Film Logan.
