Acara yang dibawakan oleh Keith Urban dan Mickey Guyton itu diadakan di tiga tempat musik country yang ikonik: Grand Ole Opry House, Ryman Auditorium Nashville serta The Bluebird Cafe.
Maren Morris dan Chris Stapleton memimpin perolehan mominasi yang diumumkan pada bulan Februari lalu. Pada gelaran tahun ini, album Starting Over milik Chris Stapleton dinobatkanmenjadi Album of the Year. Maren Morris memenangkan dua penghargaan yaitu Female Artist of the Year dan Song of the Year. Sedangkan Male Artist of the Year diberikan kepada pelantun lagu Die a Happy Man, Thomas Rhett. Luke Bryan yang malam itu diganjar gelar paling bergengsi Entertainer of the Year untuk ketiga kalinya setelah memenangkannya kategori itu di tahun 2013 dan 2015 tidak dapat hadir karena dinyatakan positif Covid-19 mingu lalu.
